Seal - Waiting for You / Love's Divine (Warner)
release date: 29 March 2004
Seal - Waiting for You / Love's Divine

It's hard to say whether double A-sides are a sign of generosity or just plain greed. The formula for Waiting For You / Love's Divine is pretty transparent. The former has the beats and tempo to appeal to Seal's clubbing fanbase from the Killer days, while the slower, more soulful Love's Divine is blatantly an effort to recreate the dizzying trans-Atlantic success of Kissed By A Rose.

The first is over almost before it has begun, while the second's spiritual vibe joined with Seal's admittedly amazing voice has a certain Lighthouse Family-esque appeal.

Both tracks are taken from Seal's latest movie - sorry, album - entitled Seal IV. Perhaps the numeral refers to the average number of years between each record, or indeed the number of good tracks you're likely to find on it. Either way, this single is unlikely to entice younger music fans, who can't even remember Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl when it was first a hit, much less the soundtrack to an old Batman movie.
