The ubiquitous Sean Paul is being heavily promoted as the cooler, younger brother of Shaggy, who is bringing supposed new blood to Dancehall. The masses are encouraged and indeed, are buying.

Paul says that his impetus is for creating a new reggae to move forward with, but this, the new single from last year's album Dutty Rock does anything but. It's a drab re-working of the Uptown Ranking classic, but really, without the class. With Paul's rapping over the original tune, interspersed with a decidedly dull choral line, it goes on, and on, and on, in the same monotone, with little variation and zero imagination.

One can't help but imagine that the only motivating reason behind releasing this single is to appeal to the clinically nostalgic and musically challenged. Hip or no, give me give me Shaggy any day.
