If you're not convinced that it's a good thing for Funeral For A Friend frontman Matthew Davies to take a sabbatical from shouty hardcore to visit country and western land, give him the benefit of the doubt by splashing out your cash on this first single from his side project The Secret Show. It dances along cheerily with country riffs, his voice could just about convince you that he's from Alabama rather than Wales, and all in all it's a lot better than you might expect.
Whether it will appeal to FFAF's black-clad, ripped t-shirted teenage hordes is another thing, but if it doesn't, it's likely that he'll simply pick up a whole new set of fans instead - ones as unlikely to listen to his usual band's efforts and those fans are to listen to Willie Nelson, The Flying Burrito Brothers or any of the other luminaries of the country scene he's channelling here.
If you like country music, he's doing a good job of making it. If you didn't think you did but hey, it's Matt Davies and he's usually got some good tunes, give it a go and see where it takes you. There's a lot worse you could be listening to right now.
