Shawn Colvin has totted up numerous successes in her music career, what with winning a Grammy and achieving a top ten hit with Sunny Came Home, so I was surprised to find that I could barely remember who she was until her new single popped through my door.
Fill Me Up, Colvin's new single, should be the one to increase her public visibility. It is an energised track which is both thoughtful and introspective without ever becoming self indulgent. This single tracks a up and down relationship, seemingly echoing Colvin's own on-and-off connection with the mainstream. Five years after her last release Fill Me Up marks the reinvention of Colvin as an artist.
If this single is anything to go by Colvin's new album These Four Walls should be an understated melodic treat.
