This pair from LA have, in the past, released dodgy rap and rock albums. So with that in mind, and with the musical climate the way it is at the moment (most definitely in a state of perpetual drizzle, prompting dour young men to wear black and top it off with long coats), it hardly takes a genius to figure out which way they should jump. Can I hear the words post punk? Thought so.
Pointless lyrics, deep electro-keyboard, a monotone vocal, a wiry guitar lick, a chorus voiced by gothic choir and a title that surely references Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart, all add up to a band that is thoroughly adept at assimilating influences and completely missing the point.
Tear You Apart is Joy Divison paint by numbers, the black and white edition. It is devoid of any sense of adventure, lacks any original ideas, and is just plain tedious. I've just wasted eight minutes of my life on this (I stupidly listened to it twice), now I want revenge.
