What starts of like a sinister children's choir (and not unfamiliar to the voice Mr Burns had when he was given a "radiant glow" in The Simpsons), Work It Out, the leading track from London five piece Shimmy Rivers'... new EP soon turns into a crash of horns, symbols and screams.

Accompanied by soaring female backing vocals, it makes for a deranged marriage between the B52s and Modest Mouse. Like the other three tracks that follow it, Work It Out is an infectious piece of music even if not obviously presented as so upon the first listen.

So radio-friendly it isn't, and however popular they may be on the indie dancefloor (this release in itself is on the White Heat label, the brains behind the uber hip midweek club night of the same name) the stop-start nature and the instrumental last third will make it near impossible to dance to. But this matters little when the delivery is as promising as this.
