What is it about Sweden? They've got a knack of producing bands like The Cardigans, The Wannadies and now Shout Out Louds, who make you want to get up and dance while also nursing a gnawing sense of sadness growing deep in your gut.
Please Please Please bounces along, powered by a guitar riff that Johnny Marr would be proud of, yet it's Adam Olenious planitive voice that breaks the heart. Olenious pleads for an ex-girlfriend to come back to him as "it's quite scary when you wake up in the same old clubs". Aww, bless.
The Magic Numbers became extraordinarily successful last year following this sort of template, and if there's any justice in the world then Shout Out Louds will follow them in 2006.
