The Shout Out Louds - Tonight I Have To Leave It (Weekender)
UK release date: 28 April 2008
The Shout Out Louds have been away for far too long. Their infectious, energetic, perfect pop is exactly the type of music that should be blasting out of our radios twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks of the year. If it did that we still wouldn't be sick of them. Oh No.
Tonight I Have To Leave It is the first single to be released from their equally superb forthcoming second album Our Ill Wills, which picks up where the first one, 2005's Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, left off in a whirl of indie guitars, dance sensibilities, pop exuberance and harmonies to die for. It's not exactly a progression of any kind, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Tinged with the happy ghost of the Bowie/Queen classic Under Pressure, filtered through Prozac and fed disco balls for dessert, what more could you wish for? If it's a rundown of Scandinavian pop indie royalty, you can have that too: no Peter, but Bjorn Yttling on production and John Ericsson on percussion and a B-side remix by Kleerup. Bloody marvellous, my darlings.
