Sia is still best known for her contributions as vocalist for Zero 7, but seems to relish being able to let herself go on solo material. And so it is on latest single Where I Belong, a finely crafted song that allows her to use her full range of vocal tones.

She has an amazing, breathy voice that sometimes hints of Tori Amos but can occasionally be over mannered, to the detriment of the lyrics. Ending the song on a barely audible whisper is a powerful technique, though, ensuring this remains a step above the likes of Dido.

Probably not commercial enough for heady chart success, but certainly worth investigating if you've enjoyed Sia's work with Zero 7. A fantastic voice awaits.
