Other than giving those who feel the need to purloin music off the internet a fix of the legal variety, I'm not quite sure what the point of this download-only single is, given that there are no B-sides and it's available on SikTh's tongue-twisting debut, The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out, Wait For Something Wild.
Frankly, Peep Show is not SikTh at their strongest, either - it lacks any kind of metal crunch or riffage and instead sticks to some admittedly clever rock guitar patterns and rhythms that laugh at the very notion of a 4/4 time signature. Meanwhile, Justin Hill shows that he's an able melodic singer, but the overall effect (and they'll hate me for saying it) is one that borders far too closely to emo.
SikTh are among the UK's most promising new metal bands and their desire to genre-bend is laudable - they just need to be careful that they don't end up as jacks of all trades but masters of none.
