Silvertide - The EP (J Records)

UK release date: 2 August 2004
Silvertide - The EP

This young quintet from North-East Philadelphia have already made an indelible impression in the US by supporting both Velvet Revolver and the recently reunited Van Halen. With The EP, their first record in the UK, its easy to see why Silvertide's popularity is building up to an explosion of nauseating proportions.

It opens with Mary Jane, a head-on pit bull charge of crazy-rock insanity. Apart from an inventive title, Foxhole Jesus Christ commits a memorable chorus that reveals Walt Lafty's robust vocal power, as well as showcasing a pretty good guitar solo. Devils Daughter adds a further nod to classic ‘70s rock while the final track, California Rain, implements their tightly knit rhythm section.

To say The EP is good is a vast understatement, to say it is stunning would be a more apt description. It moves with the speed and hard rock image of a classic Harley Davidson motorbike, the intensity of every great rock group you can think of and all the vital ingredients (talent, passion, zest, and commitment) that make a good rock 'n' roll band. Silvertide will be so hot soon that in coming months this limited edition EP will be like gold dust.
