She's back, back and indeed back. One of the most charismatic, controversial figures in modern music has been rather quiet recently, and her upcoming album Theology has been billed as a return to 'conventional' pop music, following her explorations in reggae and traditional Irish folk.

For such an uncompromising songwriter, it's a shame that she's decided to come back with a cover version. Admittedly, her most successful single so far has been a Prince cover version, but this is an Andrew Lloyd Webber song - yes, that peculiar looking gent you'll have seen on Saturday evening TV recently. It's an understated, almost whispery version of the Jesus Christ Superstar song, with the almost obligatory Irish pipes in the background.

It's pleasant, but all a bit bland in truth. Reserve your judgement until we can hear Theology in full is my best advice.
