I'm guessing most of you have never heard of Slims. Well, I hadn't either, and after listening to Utunc I'm glad I have. For those of you who are familiar with the northern band, this talk of their music being fast, loud and dirty is spot on.

The Manchester trio are so powerful that they sound like a dozen rock musicians. It comes complete with a base line as painfully loud as elephants' footsteps, drumming so heavy (yet controlled) it could knock down houses, and a mean riff in the middle to add more unstoppable weight. And they've bothered to make a B-side as well - Babe is just as strong as its leader in crime.

Utunc is damn good fun. It contains practically all the fundamental ingredients that conspire to make a good single. It's loud and fast, heavy but melodic - and the vocals and riffs hold your attention. With quality like this it won't be long before Slims come knocking on every famous venue in the country. So yep, it's good.
