So Soft Hearted Scientists are making waves in the burgeoning Cardiff underground realm, tracks from their forthcoming album popping up on my I-Pod like starry-eyed revelations.
Not many bands are blazing trails of sci-fi heroism these days, and the Scientists do it in style, living up to their immaculate name with a sprinkling of humour and a scattering of stardust.
Frontman Nathan sounds like a nice chap in the finest pop traditions, a greeting rather than a snarl in his voice, a twinkle more than a glare in his eye, and a comic book rather than NME in his pocket, and as Light Years to Nowhere journeys to the heart with a poem and pirouette, guitars trickling and keyboards bubbling away as they do, I've a feeling they could be soundtracking my summer. The LP will continue caressing stars with a graceful curiosity, and SHS are really on some inspired journey.
