With vocal overlaying and an ability to change scales effortlessly from major to minor, Sondre Lerche's talent is obvious after a minute or so of this record, a guitars, vocals and random parps collection that reminds as much of Manu Chao as it does of The Beatles or Ben Kweller.

But the faux Roger Corman sci-fi soundtrack middle section, with screaming vocal synths providing a welcome change of aural scenery to the ever-so-slightly ditsy '70s main bits, he shows that he's as good at inventin as he is at melodies.

The rest of the EP is equally adventurous with recording techniques, instrumentation and come across as the work of someone with bags of style, like a European answer to Badly Drawn Boy or The Divine Comedy circa Regeneration. Pity it's a limited edition, then.
