Doe-eyed 17-year-old Stacie Orrico sings Christian gospel thinly veiled as R&B dance and has done very well out of it, recently winning three Dove awards. But put nicely, chart-crazed chimpanzees prodding synthesizers could have done better than this sickeningly formulaic single I Could Be The One.

Cutesie-pie lyrics and cocktail lounge dance vibes are scythed by a droning melody and robotic singing, something you might find in a Japanese animated cartoon.

Granted, American Stacie's voice is great: all bubblegum sweetness with extra scoops of soul. And yes, she's toured with Destiny's Child and her debut album landed number one spot in Billboard's Heatseekers chart, but she really needs to escape from the stranglehold of paint-by-numbers R&B.
