Starsailor have ridden a high wave on the tail of the Tim and Jeff Buckley genius, but their LP Silence Is Easy hit only occasional spots of beauty and in no way fulfilled the potential that Alcoholic or Good Souls promised.

The new single Four To The Floor is a Phil Spector produced track from the album and starts with swish strings and nice mounting key-building tension, only to quiet with the onset of the vocal. The meandering lyrics "with hand on heart you right from the start, you taught me to take my part" bumps into the rising chorus - catchy, but insubstantial. "Four to the floor I was sure, never seeing clear, I could have it all, whenever you are near". Mmmm...

This single is more commercial than previous offerings, and sure to chart, but it's lightweight and lyrically it feels thrown together. It lacks a momentous hook. What there is meanders pleasantly, but it's unchallenging, and ultimately, disappointing.
