Kicking off with a synthesiser riff that is 99% Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This by Eurythmics, Chelsea is a grabby number about the bitch that stole the singer's boyfriend, Pink-y and soft-focus punky, with a massive dash of Blondie.

The band come from a mixed background, and their combination of guitars and electronics creates a very radio-friendly bridge between the perkiness of New Wave and the flatness of the New Romantic sound. The result is very lively and the fact that frontwoman Stefy Rae is in the Gwen Stefani mould doesn't hurt their chances either.

Of course this kind of record is only the rather nicely packaged illusion of rebellion, but it's very well done all the same and I can see Stefy going down a treat with the pre-teens and ironic student markets as well a making a strong showing in the clubs, where danceable pop with an edge is always at a premium (explaining the two interesting remixes that back up the radio edit).
