Everything that Bella Union touches these days has a tendency to turn to gold, and it looks as though Ms. Dosen is no exception. This second single from her UK debut album, with lyrics and melodies that haven’t so much been written as sculpted, is a dreamy little number that shows us why.
A peacock farm in Wisconsin doesn’t seem the obvious place to generate singer/songwriters of heart-breaking quality, but there’s evidently something going on. For those of you that haven’t yet experienced the delights of this breathtaking chanteuse, comparisons with Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Jesse Sykes abound.
Anyone looking for an antithesis to all the hard-drinking, hard-swearing ladies with brash Londonisms and pronunciation can end their search here and now. If this and the album are anything to go by then things will be only getting better for music and grammar aficionados.
