Strewth! Flamin' Gallahs! And other Australian stereotypes. Stephanie McIntosh is probably better known to fans of a certain Aussie teatime soap opera as Sky Mangel, who has decided to follow in the footsteps of Kylie, Natalie and Jason (Mr Donovan is actually her half-brother) in moving from Ramsey Street to a pop career.
To be fair, Mistake is not half bad. It's nothing particularly revolutionary, but for a guitar-led rocker in the mould of Kelly Clarkson or Avril Lavigne, it's perfectly acceptable. McIntosh's vocals are pretty strong, and the lyrics are the usual angst-filled lines about bad boyfriends, getting over a bad relationship and all the other things that the teenage girls who will buy this are primarily concerned with.
Definitely leaning towards Natalie Imbruglia's style rather than the absymal Stock/Aitken/Waterman bubblegum pop of early Kylie, this is a promising start to McIntosh's new career. It's too early to say if she should give up her day job, but she's certainly not the new Stefan Dennis...
