At no less than 15 members, Still Flyin' make Broken Social Scene seem like some sort of minimalists. Hailing from San Francisco, they've been together since 2004 when leader Sean Rawls relocated to the Bay Area and asked everyone he knew in his new home to join his band.
The results are chaotically, inspiringly brilliant. Good Things It's A Ghost Town Around Here, apparently written about suffering a hangover whilst at work, comes across like a particularly frantic Black Kids, full of choppy, funky guitar riffs, massed group vocals and a joyous, singalong chorus. It's also so danceable that you'll be hard-pressed to stay still just listening to it.
B-side Rope Burn is of similar quality, but with a reggae lilt to it. Another quality addition to the impressive Moshi Moshi roster, and one that will have you desperate to seek out more from Still Flyin'.
