It's been a long time since The Stills first appeared with Logic Will Break Your Heart, but in their absence their home country of Canada appears to have been reborn as the centre of all that's new and innovate in the music world.

So after the success of Arcade Fire and various Wainwrights, can The Stills pick up the baton and run with it? Well, if Destroyer is anything to go by, we could have yet another contender for album of the year when Without Feathers comes out.

Destroyer is frankly magnificent - a full on, stomping rock epic with twisted lyrics ("only when you're dead, I'll make you mine") and, perversely, an absolutely mental sounding horn section that turns a song about murder and misery into one of the most uplifting records you'll hear all year. Glorious.
