This four piece from Ayrshire have been creating something of a stir recently with some well received EPs. Within a few seconds of Dialogue On The 2 it is plainly obvious why. Putting a finger on exactly what they sound like is fairly tricky (which is a good start), although it is definitely a taut and fired up brand of alternative rock that they trade in.

Perhaps the closest band to them stylistically is Biffy Clyro (a band who once lent Sucioperro their vocalist for a few tracks). Dialogue On The 2 is not just a straight down the line rock song. Like Biffy, Sucioperro excel in spiralling off of the beaten path throwing various new structures into their songs. One moment they are hammering through a rampant chugging chorus, the next their shredding the fret board in a jazz core sign off. Not that any of these changes in direction are distracting, as Sucioperro seem to glide adroitly between sections. The effect is that they create an intense and dense atmosphere for their songs to truly breathe in.

Elsewhere they continue to display a thoroughly schizophrenic nature. The central grinding riff on Conversation With gives way to an almost snowflake delicate guitar motif, which calls to mind the aesthetics of Oceansize. Closing track The Altruist is a melodic comedown with a daintly plucked acoustic guitar and understated drums propping up The Dragon's beautiful gentle vocals. In short Dialogue On The 2 is yet another EP that comfortably defines Sucioperro as a band with a mass of potential.
