It's usually around this time that music journalist types start looking out for their 'tips for next year'. You can bet your life that Leeds trio The Sugars will be pretty high on most of these lists.
They may hail from West Yorkshire, but their music is miles away from the 'indie anthems' of Kaiser Chiefs or Pigeon Detectives. Instead, there's a nicely retro feel to it - skittery drums, a guitar that could have been nicked from an old Chris Isaak song and male and female vocals meshing perfectly together for a song that's impossible not to tap along to.
Even better is the B-side, End Of Our Affair, a lovely bitter-sweet soulful number that will be wept over by many a couple breaking up. As sweet as their name would suggest, get ready for a Sugar rush in 2008.
