Tut! When will shoddy dance acts stop wrecking old eighties classics by lifting and looping them and slapping a beat and some electronic nonsense over the top of them? The answer in the case of Supermode's Tell Me Why is: when it stops being so much fun.
Perhaps one of the few exceptions to the rule of dodgy dance covers, which have been pumped out at an alarming rate since Eric Prydz's Call On Me, Supermode take Bronski Beat's 1984 hit Small Town Boy, add a modern, crescendo-riddled drumbeat and, well, that's about it really. That may not sound like much but when you have one of pop's most distinctive voices in Jimmy Somerville's falsetto (or at least a fairly good impression of it) and a brilliant hook to play around with, what more do you need?
In case you are still left hungry though, Raul Rincon presses the 'Ibiza anthem' button on his keyboard and turns in a monstrous funky house number complete with old school piano breakdown which makes Supermode's efforts seem somewhat lazy in comparison. The original hit number three and, whether you consider it musical sacrilege or not, this will probably do just as well.
