Switches. Mates, listen. It's New Rave that's all the rage this year. Rrrrrave. 'Ave you got a bloody lisp or something, because otherwise I want an explanation right now as to why you think it's about time the world needed another bunch of fricking Wire revivalists. We don't. Elastica were more than enough and it's not so long since they went away that we've forgotten all about them.
Your record's not offensive on the ears, oh no, but neither is it the lost link between US and UK indie that you seem to have brainwashed half the world into thinking it is (and anyway, that was The Libertines, wasn't it?). It's just I Am The Fly with a bit of influence from The Strokes thrown in. And what's wrong with that, shout the hordes who will be queuing at your concerts? Nothing at all. In fact it is almost exclusively good but it is still not entirely necessary.
Except that fuzzy kazooey-thing solo in the middle. That is ace. In fact, every time you listen to it, you'll find another brilliant bit that will convince you to put it on again until by the fourth or fifth listen you'll begrudgingly have to admit that, ripping off Wire or not, it is in fact the best single you've heard this year. Damn.
