Suede were never the same after Bernard Butler departed. Sure, new boy Richard Oakes did his best, but the chemistry that produced the classic Dog Man Star was sadly and inevitably missing,

So it will be with great pleasure that Suede fans will greet the debut release from The Tears. Bernard Butler and Brett Anderson are back together and it's obvious that the creative tension is still working its wonders. Butler's guitar bursts into life from the opening chord, Anderson sounds more inspired than he has done in years and the song itself boasts a gloriously epic feel, worthy of the first Suede album.

Of course, cynics will snort that this reunion has only happened as neither Brett nor Bernard have exactly set the world alight since Suede's heyday. But really, who cares? This is the welcome return of one of the best musical partnerships in years. Now if only Morrissey could be persuaded to talk to Johnny Marr again...
