From one of 2005's most exciting new bands - I admit, I was taken in - to the scrapheap of music in the blink of an eye, the Test Icicles' short existence has been an eventful one, but, more tellingly, massively anti-climactic one, too.
This grimey remix of original single Boa vs Python is indicative of a band whose unapologetically shambolic gigs led to row after row of disappointed punters: of all the explosive moments on their well-recieved LP, an obtuse remix ends their reign with a whimper. This is the final insult for the band's small but loyal following (perhaps the title refers to them).
Having called it quits due to the "pressures of touring", the Test Icicles' legacy amounts to little more than a handful of good songs and a few skinny-jeaned scenesters weeping gently into their £100 haircuts. This should have been so much more... and no, that's not our typo - there really is one asterisk too many. Tsk.
