Boa vs Python? More like Boa vs you: This single will take your face off and leave you gasping for air with three of the most exciting minutes in music this year.

The comparisons as a crazed version of Bloc Party are all too obvious - the jagged-yet-shapely guitar assault that never grows old - and yet they're just as close to the furious, cerebral and dynamic Death From Above 1979 (who they recently supported on a UK tour). Everything that makes the Test Icicles is present here: The shared, rabid vocal onslaught; overdriven, stop-start melodies; a belief that good music should pack a punch (or a bite, or both).

The band are establishing a burgeoning reputation as a live act (one of their number almost losing a toe after leaping onto a shard of glass mid-set), and with Boa vs Python as their major label debut they have an ace up their sleeve. If only we could sneak one of these snakes into the Stereophonics' dressing room...
