Ronnie Wood saw them play once and signed them on the spot, an inkling of how enticing Brixton lads The Thirst are. Their taut guitars and punk rock blazing songs grab you without any time to get a stitch on, so get your finest knickers and be prepared to shout out loud.
This four piece band was formed by brothers Kwame and Mensah Cofi-Agyeman, joined later by school friend and rhythm guitarist Mark Lenihan and drummer Marcus Harris. After playing up to six gigs a week at venues around London they earned a word of mouth reputation that got the attention of the Rolling Stones guitarist.
With Jake Fior (Babyshambles and The Libertines) as their producer and with a new album on the way, The Thirst’s moment in the limelight is just around the corner. Ready To Move, however, stands too close to Arctic Monkeys but still has an infectious lyric "I see you up at the bar, I'll take a snakebite, I hope you're not goin' far, don't get no stagefright".
B-side On the Brink is a killer tune, and the better of the two. It looks like the spiky guitars and twinkle-in-the-eye cheekiness of The Thirst will have this band recognised by radio audiences and MySpace travellers alike. Just you wait!
