Hollywood and the world were once in 3 Colours Red's eyes. They even wrote a storming song about it and released it as a single. If one thing was reliable about the Red, it was their singles' strength, backed up by two killer albums, pre 2001. After kissing and making up they're back, with new album The Union Of Souls a month away.
Unfortunately, The World is Yours isn't the all-conquering return to nudge The Delays, Snow Patrol and Keane off the music agenda. As a newie when you saw The Red live last year, it was inspiring. But the studio version, although catchy, is a rather lukewarm shift to wide-eyed Britpop of which the Red were the complete antithesis.
At least it's an improvement on Repeat To Fade, which again was a corker live but a poor single. The b-sides on that were appalling too, and the Red seem to be playing their cards close to their chests as this one is lumped with live oldies. Let's hope they're all aces.
