Starting off with a fittingly childish giggle, this is pure bubblegum garage that will appeal mostly to younger listeners. Guaranteed to go straight from garage clubs to TOTP, cheesy nightclubs and teenagers bedrooms, this is definitely not a single that will have you questioning the nature of the soul. Nor should it, it is after all only a bit of fun.
With a rap about the complexities of relationships which is about as deep as a flea's navel, a simple melody hook and straightforward layered vocals, you may pretend not to like it but it will eventually nag its way into your subconscious and could be this year's Sweet Like Chocolate. Having gained a decent amount of radio play, not to mention being annoyingly catchy, this should be assured a top ten place at the very least.
Baby Cakes is sugary pop so throwaway it refuses to go away and, whether you want it to be or not, it could just prove to be one of the chart sounds of the summer.
