Being a DJ, remixer and a vocalist, Tiga certainly has all his bases covered. He's from cooler-than-thou Montreal, he's remixed such diverse acts as Soulwax and Nelly and collaborated with Richard X. He's even been called an "electroclash icon" - but we won't hold that against him.
Now here he is in the iconic company of Scissor Sisters dynamo Jake Shears, with whom he shares vocal duties on this Soulwax-produced floor filler.
There's a Kraftwerk-like synth-shimmy underneath the repetitive fuzzy synth riff and addictive drums. A scary middle section threatens to become Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart's Lily Was Here momentarily, but it gets toes tapping nicely.
And the lyrics are a hoot. Tiga sounds all manly, while Jake lurks decoratively higher up the vocal register. "Some say boy you're always teasin', I think you best be leavin', Why you gotta drive me crazy?" asks Tiga. "I know you gonna want me, But when you want me, It might be a different story," responds Jake. One hopes they find a compromise at the end of the dance. Meanwhile, this is one mincin' little track You Gonna Want.
