Tigs - Something New

Tigs is another product of the My Space generation of musicians, gaining a chance at success through the popularity of her songs, and I think it shows. Something New is her latest attempt at making what she describes as "smart, literate punk music with something to say".

However, to describe Tigs as just 'another' spawn of My Space is to play down her originality. Something New lives up to its name - it's pacey, catchy and indefinable. The closest comparison has to be Blondie: Tigs voice has a similar unearthly yet sultry quality as she trills or breathes each line.

The lyrics are strong and stick in your head, but whether they can really be described as 'literate' or out of the ordinary is another question. Either way Tigs will surely only gain popularity as time goes on, and this is one punk-pop track that is defiantly worth a listen (as is the b-side Good Things, which deserves a mention). Look out for Tigs in the future.
