Is it possible to hate a band that has a tap-dancer instead of a drummer? Not really. Not at all. Not ever in fact. That said, there's not so much of the hot shoe shuffle to be found of Beat Control as the beat takes control and Tilly and Wall finally edge their way towards the distinct possibility of massive crossover.

Every so often a band comes along that makes the po-face of serious indie types crack into a nervous smile. Go back a few years, and you'll have found many an indie kid with a Shampoo, Daphne and Celeste, or a Kenickie record tucked in behind their oh-so serious records. These days Tilly and The Wall are the band that many a chin stroker will undoubtedly turn to when in need of that thing called fun.

There's more substance to Tilly than Shampoo or D&C certainly, but their call to let the beat control your body is as close to disco dance as some indie folks are willing to commit to. It is infectious and without a doubt has the potential to ensnare the hearts and minds of anyone who hears it, regardless of any perceived loyalty to any particular genre. Christ, I mean, it sounds like Miami Sound Machine in their prime. Let me be the first to burst the bubble of the Guilty Pleasure, you'd be a fool not to love this for it's sheer poppiness, and you'd be an even bigger fool to consider feeling guilty about it. This Beat Control is pleasure with dance in its gene and a party in its pants.
