Jazz has never fully recovered from the panning of the "Mmm... nice!" sketch, but while being true of the 'chin-stroking-massive', it does it a disservice. Modern day chaps like Helsinki-based Timo can't help it if they’ve got the horn for jazz; in Timo's case a flippin' big saxophone, so don't mess with him, okay?
Harking back to the era of John Coltrane when things were all distinctly Blue Note, this is a neat, rhythmic little ass-shaker that sneaks through your cool radar to set things-a-tappin' in a most unholy way.
The neat quartet of sax, piano, bass and drums flesh out this tune to keep it just on the right side of groovy. While in no way re-shaping the wheel, the snappy way each instrument rides over the rhythm and still bursts out for a spot of soloing is sweet, neat and reet petite. Approach with caution of losing your cool and loving it.
