Travis are a guilty pleasure I know I shouldn't admit to liking but I just can't help myself. There's something about their brand of anthemic, stadium friendly sub-Coldplay pop-rock that I just can't wash out of my hair.
Closer is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming album The Boy With No Name - their first new material in three years - and it's slower and less catchy (at least on first listen) than previous offerings such as Sing and Flowers In The Window, but it's still infectious, as if it's deliberately drawing you closer with its less obviously robust melody.
The more often you hear it, the more memorable it becomes - a good indication of impending radio success - and the easier it is to close your eyes and image the crowd singing along at one of the plethora of concerts-in-the-middle-of-a-forest they're playing throughout June.
Don't despair if you can't face the outdoors - you can catch them in proper venues throughout May. Or, you could buy the album, lock yourself indoors with the headphones and indulge yourself while claiming you're listening to a Dinosaur Jr bootleg instead. That's probably what I'll be doing.
