Taken from the German singers second album, this is a fantastic piece of what would probably be best described as post-punk electro. Renowned for her eclecticism, Trost's bluesy style of voice sits perfectly with the music. With vocals deliberately designed to be so impassive that they make Sophie Ellis-Bextor look positively enthusiastic, the effect is both strangely dreamy and powerfully hypnotic.
In addition to the synths and guitars, the background is full of strange little whirs and clicks that set the whole creation off perfectly, providing a nice surreal background. The fact that this is sung entirely in German adds to the overall severe quality and industrial feeling.
No single from this genre would be complete without the obligatory remix, which in this case is provided by Hell. It's bleak, sparse and well worth a listen. It's a shame that the British are generally not overly disposed towards buying songs in foreign languages, as this is a great track that deserves to be a success.
