It's nearly the middle of July and there's still no sign of a decent summer on the horizon. Floating about in a rowing boat in Hull is no way to usher in the warmer months: right now we need to be reminded what summer is all about.
The Trudy are the kind of band to do that for us. If you've been paying attention, you'll have already caught their recent magnificent singles Oh! and Lost Summer of Love. If you've been paying attention then you'll know that The Trudy deal in effortless indie pop; the kind of thing that you'd find the likes of Heavenly playing. Yep, it really is that cute and catchy.
Everything they've done recently has been a ray of sunshine in a pretty bleak musical world. 3 Minutes 4 U is no exception, glinting and sparkling while Melissa Jo Heathcote's voice steals the show once again. There are elements of Echobelly and Cranes on display here, but ultimately 3 Minutes 4 U and The Trudy's roots lie in the '80s, not that there's anything wrong with that of course.
These three minutes are well worth spending in the company of The Trudy. Don't let the fact that Lost Summer of Love resides on the B-side put you off, we haven't lost it yet, The Trudy are here to save it.
