Having foolishly relocated from Australia to Oxford, Twisterbait have somehow managed to rope in Death In Vegas mainmain Simon Hanson to produce their debut EP. The band follow a similar path to DIV as this is sample driven music with a smattering of guitars.
Sadly, the desire to freely experiment with sounds in the studio can render even the greatest of songs an unpalatable mess. Even Hanson's deft touch can't rescue this from being entirely average - thin sounding guitar lines and vocals that try to sound intimidating but end up sounding fey all show up in the title track.
There are some signs of life though - Popstars is a jumpy little number and there are even hints of Bowie in Bombs, which is encouraging. Those two tracks would have been a more startling single than this rather overambitious six track effort.
