You couldn't really say that any band which calls itself anything beginning with "The" is being particularly original, but somebody should really buy these Swedish blonde rockers an English dictionary. Before they decided to model themselves on fancy hairdressing salons, this sextet, in varying line-ups over the years, have been known as Drain, Girl and, most comically, The New Centre Band.
The music itself, to be fair, is a lot less confused and substantially more intelligent. These guys look and sound like The Stone Roses but Jonas Linde, with his Scandinavian good looks and puzzling propensity to take his shirt off mid-performance (the single comes with the video, for anyone with Quick Time on their PC), has a much better chance of becoming a sex symbol than Ian Brown ever did.
Thus, The Unisex will appeal to teenage boys who like inventive indie rock, while their sisters will be downloading video software before you can say "blonde bombshell". So maybe they do have an appropriate name, after all.
