The Viking invasion of the British music industry shores continues with Swedish warriors, The Unisex commanding the present battle. Having just said that, it's not much of a battle really, as these lands are suckers for a good melodic tune, some guitar rhythm and an effectively haunting voice. The six lads from Enkoping, Sweden have delievered all these goods and more, packaged neatly into their debut single, Take Me Higher.

Even though they are young rockers (they are all 25), The Unisex have been 11 years in the making. The death of Kurt Cobain a week before Nirvana were to play Sweden was the catalyst to their union. Lead singer, Jonas Linde had a ticket for that concert but used his disappointment to urge the union and development of The Unisex.

Linde not only pushed the making of this band but it is his soaring vocals on this track and two other accompanying tracks which move, linger and entice the listener. In fact, I have never experienced a more cogent title for the effects of a song that does, momentarily, take you higher.
