Though it was produced by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, this latest single from The Veils sounds more like something by The Verve on first listen, with ascending violins and words of love from the street.

Lead singer Finn Andrews, who was born in England but grew up in New Zealand, nonetheless sounds more like The Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon than any singer from either of his native countries.

Still, the tune is catchy enough, and you just can't say no to strings if they are well placed within an indie track (it can be overdone though, as the aforementioned Verve should have known). We'll find out next month, when the debut long player - The Runaway Found - is due out, whether The Veils have made the same mistake.
