So far, The View have released three cracking singles, more than justifying their position as one of Britain's brightest new bands.
This double A-side release is a bit of an oddity though, in that both The Don and Skag Trendy work much better as album tracks. Whereas Wasted Little DJs had that incomprehenisble yet addictive chorus, and Same Jeans breezed along marvellously, The Don especially is just an average, not particularly memorable slice of indie sung with those distinctive Dundee accents.
Skag Trendy is a bit better, being a Libertines-esque cautionary tale of a junkie around town (and does include the best pronouciation of the term 'social deprivation' ever recorded), but there remains the nagging question of why anyone, bar completists, would buy this - anyone who wants these tracks will have them on the album. Save your money and get Hats Off To The Buskers instead.
