The problem with being an excellent live act that combines wit and clever lyrics with great stage presence is that as a formula, it doesn't translate well to recordings. So it is with We Are Scientists: unmissable live, a bit dull on record.
After Hours chirps along nicely. It's happy, pleasant enough on the ear and you can imagine dancing to it at a wedding disco - which is probably the exact effect the geek chic boys from Brooklyn want to achieve - but do you really need to buy it rather than just waiting for it to come round on the radio? Nope.
That's not to say you shouldn't go out of your way to catch them live, or make a beeline for them at a festival near you. It's just that they need to be in the same physical space as you to get the chemistry working. Without that, After Hours is really nothing special.
