Now, this is a bit of a discovery. White Light Motorcade are yet another band from New York playing dirty, ragged guitars with a spunky attitude. However, where they seem to differ from many of their peers is in the extent to which they throw chunks of pop melody into the rock'n'roll mix.
It's Happening is a rip-roaring, Stooges-styled opener, with vocalist Harley Dinardo effortlessly switching between sugary and acidic vocal styles in a manner that bears more than a hint of Kurt Cobain. All Gone Again adds dreamy, harmonic vocals in amongst the hard-edged guitars, while Open Your Eyes and Semi-Precious are finely executed slabs of power-pop with some cleverly-implemented guitar effects.
So White Light Motorcade can also be added to your list of quality Big Apple bands. Someone should go and investigate what they are putting in the water over there...
