Love Is A Number was good enough to be an anomaly. The annals of music are littered with one hit wonders, bands that singularly fail to improve on their one moment of glory, crawling away to then die with the epitaph "Yeah, 'tis grand, but why can't you do it again?". So it's fortunate for White Rose Movement that Alsatian not only sees that debut single, but raises it the house, the kids and Grandma's left kidney.
It is fucking stupendous, the sound of a band stringing their guitars with barbed wire, setting their synths to air-raid siren and driving a bulldozer through the centre of the dancefloor. It's what the end of the world will sound like if Trent Reznor was compere and Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp were left arguing over who was supposed to do the decorations.
Alsatian is good enough to make you wonder whether we gave electroclash enough of a chance. No hang on, we definitely did. So anyway guys, you've done it twice. Bet you can't make it three times in a row. Come on, whatcha got...
