Wilt - Distortion

They sound like an American take on The Bluetones covering Nickelback, but Wilt are Irish. They've got REM's brand of pop studied to a T and the kind of originality that reminds one of My Bloody Valentine.

Their songs don't trouble the ear, meaning they suit drive-time radio programmes perfectly. But they manage to cram enough juicy bits into even their b-sides to make even the most jaded observer of guitar bands sit up and take notice. And Cormac Battle's voice is rather good.

Distortion is a strong single, backed by fine supplementary tracks. On the evidence of this record, Wilt need to make their way to a stereo near you very soon.
