It's a bit shouty shouty. X Is Loaded are from Bath, and the music of the south west is quite often heavier than you'd expect. Thrash metal and cider are still good friends, apparently.

Here we get the full experience: layered overdrive, an insistent rhythm section, and some deeply overwrought vocals - "Sometimes I feel like Area 51". Of course you do. There's also a good deal of riffing, very fast, very high up the neck, and very finger-slashing.

All in all, this is impressively messy, although not, perhaps, the catchiest sound of the year. Nor is it, strangely, much darker than the last Graham Coxon single, the majestic Freakin' Out. But there is a lovely, unexpectedly beautiful slice of wooziness on the B-side: Dead Room sounds like a more energetic My Bloody Valentine - which kind of misses the point, but is still a good thing.
