Only the second single from the hugely successful Show Your Bones LP, Turn Into looks like furthering Gold Lion's tendencies to take the Yeah Yeah Yeah's further and further away from their seedy Master EP roots; this was born from love rather than lust.
As you probably already know, it crescendoes into white heat, Nick Zinner's squealing solos unleashed only after tumbling drums, acoustic guitar and piano have sufficiently laid the groundwork. Even removed from the context of the album, Turn Into remains thrillingly climactic, invoking images of Karen O losing herself further, lost in tribute to some unknown recipient.
Available - apparently - for one week only and arriving as the band embark on a soldout UK headline tour, Turn Into is another milestone in the Yeah Yeah Yeah's growth from a good band to a great one, exhibiting their increasingly accomplished songwriting as well as Maps ever did - and that's saying something.
